Liesel Koen, from Stellenbosch feeding scheme Feeding in Action, sent the following feedback:We had a great year with our Wonderbags. Thanks to a donation of 8 catering bags earlier this year, we now have 14 Wonderbags in use at Feeding in Action.We recently received a 70 litre and a 58 litre pot from the Red Cross and Wonderbag provided 2 bags big enough for these pots. We were overwhelmed at the ease with which we now serve a pasta dish for 100 needy recipients at our feeding point in Central Stellenbosch. Continue reading →

This is the 17th Conference of the Parties, Kyoto Protocol reaches its expiration date in 2012. Processes have been taking place to replace it with a new binding agreement in 2007, the Bali Action Plan sought such an agreement. COP15, which took place in Copenhagen, called for a new deal but could only come up with the Copenhagen Accord. COP16, which took place in Mexico in 2010 resulted in the Cancun Agreements. In the 3rd week of September, a 2-month Wonderbag/Unilever promotion kicked off in Shoprite stores in KwaZulu-Natal. About 5 weeks later, all 70 000 Wonderbags had either been sold or given away, and sales of Rajah curry powder had increased by more than 200%. From Abbeyleix to Alexandra: the story of a community partnership

In June 2011, the Abbeyleix Women’s Development Group in Ireland, introduced Wonderbags at the town’s annual festival. The bags were demonstrated, displayed and sold as part of the Abbeyfest activities. The group sewed the bags, using Natural Balance’s pattern and instructions, from materials donated by their community. Recovered polystyrene beads were kindly provided by a local insulation company, while households donated old curtains and other suitable fabric. Continue reading →
